School of Public Health
Innovative Research Fund

Effective treatment of hypertension may be customized through genetic research. An association has been discovered between diabetes and susceptibility to tuberculosis. Obesity is often a precursor of diabetes. Our school was selected to coordinate the national network of stem cell-related treatment of cardiovascular disease. The effect of air pollution on the health of Houstonians is reported to the mayor. These and many more discoveries are transforming our lives and promising an improved quality of life for us, our children and our grandchildren. Your gift to the School of Public Health Research Fund provides initial funding for new research which will address current threats to our health. These early research results are important in competing for federal research grants, and your gift can provide the otherwise unavailable resources for innovation and public health advances.
