Cizik School of Nursing
Mary Joe White Scholarship
This endowment was established in memory and to honor Dr. Mary Joe White, a much-beloved faculty member of the Jane and Robert Cizik School of Nursing for 36 years. Dr. White first joined the Cizik School of Nursing as an instructor in 1977. Starting in 1998, Dr. White effectively served in the important role of RN/BSN/MSN track director. When she retired from the nursing school in early 2014, she was an Associate Professor of Nursing, holding tenure since 1987.
Her colleagues in the school’s Department of Nursing Systems agree that Dr. White, as an educator, “had a habit of finding good traits in a student’s capabilities and celebrating them – she empowered students to succeed.” Dr. White was selected by the School’s graduating students for the 2005 McGovern Outstanding Teacher Award. She received the Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award more years than anyone can remember. To celebrate one of our own, your gift will be a tribute in Dr. White’s honor and fund nursing scholarships to students.
